Greyhound Tips: Towcester to serve up Tuesday treat

Mark Wallis has high hopes for Bryce Canyon when tonight's card at Towcester gets underway.

Greyhound racing

Back to graded action this Tuesday night with Towcester the point of focus. A nice mix of two and four bend races makes up the slate for this evening with a pair of nice youngsters making most appeal.

No hoodoo for Wallis

Bryce Canyon has not been the easiest to catch right, looking to be a dog who will only do his best work if he gets straight on the bunny. The 19.18 gives him the chance to do exactly that with three slower starters inside him.

His two best sectionals since returning to action have come from this four box, winning at this level two starts back for Mark Wallis. Things should go in his favour once more tonight.

Sprinter to blaze a trail

It took eight starts for Russian Blaze to get his head in front for Derrick Atkins but now that he has, his confidence should be high. In general (apart from his third run) he has got quicker with each look which bodes well for his future.

Just a February 2020 whelp, he has plenty of time on his side. His recent improvement has come from this same draw in trap one, a slot he can take advantage of at 18.43.

Piper to play a winning tune

Another February 2020 puppy gets the vote in the 20.38, Doohoma Piper for trainer Seamus Gaughan. A winner over the sprint trip here in July, he makes his debut over 500m tonight and that should see him improve further.

He has kept fair company in his two grading trials over this distance. Beaten by an A1 Hove dog first time up and then an A3 winner at this track, his opening assignment in an A5 looks well within his capabilities.

Dolby set to win with birthday girl

Today is the fourth birthday of the Pam Dolby-trained Pyewacket and she can celebrate by landing the A5 contest at 18.58. This is only her second race at this track, her debut on the 6th her first competitive action since June.

As such, she is entitled to strip fitter for that outing and on the best of her form at Henlow, she should be capable of competing at a higher level than this one.

Ranger to sink his rivals

Dunedain Ranger is another who is relatively new at the track, an A1 Doncaster winner back in May. He has settled into his new home track well for Geraldine Kovac, winning an A5 impressively last time out.

The 19.56 demands more of him, but if he can come away in a similar fashion and avoid the dog in trap one inside him on the run to the bend, he should add to that recent success with another.
