Cheltenham Festival Day 3: Stayers’ Hurdle

The Stayers’ Hurdle is a Group One National Hunt competition, open to horses aged four years and older. It takes place on the 4,785 metre New Course at Cheltenham, consists of 12 hurdles and is one of the most prestigious long-distance horse races in Britain.

The Stayers’ Hurdle is an illustrious event in the National Hunt calendar, and it’s scheduled to occur on the third day of the Cheltenham Festival. It’s the second most popular race at The Festival, somewhat surprisingly given the level of action on offer throughout the week.

More than just an exciting spectacle to watch, the race provides a fantastic opportunity for punters willing to research the field in advance to find favourable odds on the expected runners.

2022 Stayers’ Hurdle: Tips and Predictions

The Stayers’ Hurdle is currently the most open race of the four championship races at the festival. Last season’s winner Flooring Porter is 9/1* to defend his title. He made all the running in the race last year and never seen another rival, it’s unlikely he will be able to do that again this year.

Klassical Dream currently heads the market at 9/2, and he did win the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Punchestown Festival last season on his final run. Buzz could be one to keep your eye on, he won in great style on his reappearance this season at Ascot and if he proves this season that he can stay 3-miles, I’m sure he will have a big chance in this race. Thomas Darby for Olly Murphy produced a brilliant staying performance to beat Paisley Park in the Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury. He could be one at a bigger price to look at in the ante-post market.
